Galacon 2014

Post by JPBuhl on Sat Apr 26, 2014 12:17 pm

I just watched the promo trailer for this years Galacon and realized: "Man you just have to make it there"

Will any of you guys be there? I'm living next to Frankfurt so I could even pick you up from the airport, or something.
A single room would just feel wrong for this sort of occasion, though  RD oh u

Btw there's the promo for those who haven't seen it

No job, which means no income, which means no money, which means I won't be doing anything for a while (except look for a job) if a miracle won't happen. I've never even been to any of these conventions whatsoever!  silent

Since 'merica is going down once again, I shall (plan to) attend either Galacon or Czequestria, or both. Well a beer-trip to Prague isn't a big thing, and we haven't been to Germany in ages. Hope to see ya!

I mean it would be great and all but I sense there is a tiny chance we would not randomly bump into and recognize eachother. Maybe a location inside? Before or after opening ceremony? Information thingy on the right side of the ground floor? I should have a picture of myself in the picture-of-yourself thread, but I no longer have long hair. I could wear a Wargaming shirt, because this is basically the one kind of occasion when a pony-shirt would not be a good method. (Or carry a flag around  Razz ) Also phonenumbers just in case (hue I don't know my own, but I'll pm you soon)

Wonder if this works as intended, but I just ordered one of these:

READ-Shirt
(There should be a Language selection somewhere in the upper right corner)

Even got the #blamedeldrin  rainbow derp

Edit: apparently the Link doesn't really work with IE, Firefox is fine, though

Here's what it should look like:

Okay, time for some followup thingy. Best points: Button's Mom (YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!), M.A. Larson cosplaying Luna, Tombstone Live (paaaarteeee), sounds of Nicole Oliver + not-that-family-friendly Nicole Oliver during the charity auction, meetings with READers (yay), the pony rodeo ride, not-selling my kidneys for merchandise, the atmosphere of the whole event. Seriously where else can you get free candy when standing in line for your tickets, from a pip-boy radio controlled truck.

Pictures! (from left to right: Me, Charcoal, DerpyHooves400)

The aftermath (new: Pinkie, RD on the right, RD led nightlamp thingy, mug)

First usage of freshly arrived FO:E books (plus Spice and Wolf, because why not)

whatnow... Seriously how many S&W fans are there in this clan? Very Happy (Panda / PinkiePie also likes it) Considering how un-mainstream it is... I should also buy moar books. (I also have the anime on BD, which is half of my two piece BD collection, the other being How to Train Your Dragon)

I have watched first 4 or 5 episodes of the S&W show. It seems like a talk'n walk journey at the beginning. The japanese humour is well implemented, it does not totally counts on the 'moe' appearance of the wolf girl to attract audiences like most the jap animes do:)

I really love and am willing to recommand another wolf-girl story, 'Princess mononoké (もののけ姫)'. The story and its music is epic.

You can't go wrong with Ghibli. I would describe SW as an anime where nothing happens but at the same time everything happens. Yeah it doesn't use Holo's body to sell it, however it was not successful either Very Happy
