Silly deldrin, pururin is dead.

Anyways, lets do some recommendations:
First off, another manga! (But this will get an adaptation soon-ish)
New Game! is a manga about a fresh graduate starting to work at a game company. Its a pretty normal slice of life, cute girls do cute things kind of manga, but it is done quite well. Source would be Doki, same as Henjyo.

Alright, lets get off some animes! First off, I recommended this to Oni so why not make it here eh?
Amagi Brilliant Park, or AmaBuri for short. If you know Kyoto Animation, you know what you can expect, beautiful characters, and tons of moe. It has a cast of good characters, and an especially good protagonist. Animation is well done, story is good enough, and the jokes are decent. All-in-all, its a pretty enjoyable show, not too serious obviously.

Recommended subs: Vivid, as for a BD release, look here.

For the matter I have another one!
This is "one of my top five", a truly magnificent show. Non Non Biyori.
Alright. Before we start, this is another girls do stuff slice of life. Thing is, its set in the out of nowhere, so practically nothing happens. Adrenaline filled episodes such as "We went to the candy store" or "We cooked rice at school" truly raise your hearthbeat! Despite the very slow pacing, the characters are magnificent, and the stories are very enjoyable, and the humour is spot on. This might be a good fit for all you guys still raising your blood pressure with WoT, it can calm you down easily.
The animation and drawing is beautiful too. Not to mention the BD quality. Speaking of which, FFF, my choice of sub group for this, did no make a BD release. However, I did one for myself. Unless you want to get that from me, here is a sufficiently good alternative.

Anyway, Barna, do you have any other recommendations that are not slice-of-life-why-there-is-200-animes-about-school-girls type?

Re: Barna's anime corner

When did I give any of those? Trollestia

Anyways, just a "quick list":
Spice and Wolf: Slice of Life -> Check. Medieval Economics -> Che... wait what? Yes, this show is about economics. Lots of them. Also the 2 main characters. Dialogue is great. Enjoyment is great. Pacing is... slow. Very slow. Might not be your thing. Oh, it also does not end. Has two seasons of 13-13 episodes. If you want it head on over to Coalgirls. This is also part of my "top 5".

Steins;Gate: Rather serious show, I'd not spoil much about this. The story is great, plot holes are scarce, a great feat considering the topic of it. It starts off slowly, mostly building characters, then gets fast. One thing I like to mention about this: despite being an anime that has about no focus on romance, it is still a better romantic anime than most "romantic" ones. Also has an OVA (I consider part of it), and a movie, which is good, but by far not as good as the series. You can read its VN too, if you want. For pirate life here, you can find the movie by the same sub group too. And its also getting a sequel, both VN and anime. We'll see how that turns out (its more like a spinoff really).

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0: This show is awesome. The title spoils the story already. Earthquake happens. Shit goes down. Main characters have to survive & get back together with their family. Lots of feels and realism. For pirety stuff.

Fate: This one is quite long, the link goes to the one you should watch first. It is originally a VN, but since that its one of the biggest franchises. It has loads of fights, cool characters, some moral stuff, all around pretty great (both the prequel linked here, and the original one). The animation is absolutely amazing, this is the only anime where I actually like CG parts. The original, Fate/Stay night, has two anime adaptations, you should watch the recent one (F/SN: Unlimited Bladeworks, not to be confused with the movie of the same name), however, I didnt find the old one to be actually bad, like lots of people think. You can get it (Zero at least, and the old stay night series and the old UBW movie) from coalgirls. It also has an upcoming movie(s), adapting another route from the original VN.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun: What kind of recommendation would this be without a school, slice of life, rom-com right? Okay, stop there, this show is basically a parody of those. It has top-notch humour, great characters, but not much romantic development. Best source probably.

Well, even though I don't think I actually gave any run-of-the-mill school SoLs so far, the above ones are pretty far from these clichés. Also, I think its an admireable feat to do something good in a topic that is so saturated. Nevertheless if you want really cliché school SoL, I might not be the person to go for, at least if you don't want actually good ones. I personally like SoLs a lot, mostly because I like characters and their development, and a SoL is carried by its characters (since no story), or maybe boobs. Boobs always work.

Sadly SoLs arent my cup of coffee. After my "anime fan" brother sent me 4 nearly same school themed anime, I just cant stand them anymore. Thats why I like fantasy, comedy, action or something new.

3 weeks ago I bought for cheap Valkyria chronicles game, and just for the lulz, "borrowed" the anime too. Game gud, anime meh... for some reason they changed half of the story, mostly in bad way.

Lemme do another one quick. I'm currently watching it, so far its really great. Akatsuki no Yona: Reasonable action, nice animation, good comedy, great characters, good story. For pirates.

School theme is not bad per se, however, we have like 4 "bigger" school rom-com SoLs every season. I imagine most of them would be quite bland. If you want to try a different SoL approach (the real SoL approach), you can try Non Non Biyori from my previous post. You can't get anything more SoL than that.

Adaptations are... well not frequently great, at least from games and visual novels. Manga and novel adaptations tend to be better.

my nickname is actually from 4chan's spice and wolf stream that happened like 6 years ago. The streamer went to sleep and only me and one other dude stayed to wait for his return. I wanted to see if the other dude was still awake so I changed my nick from Oni to Onicron and said "this is my true form".

the livestream room got blocked because the streamer tried to make people leave by streaming autopsy and eye surgery videos but the only thing that worked was straight hentai porn. Ah, those were the days.

One of the only ~3 anime I've ever bothered watching and therefore the only thing I will recommend here:

Golden Boy!

It's only six episodes, you can find all of them here. (Of course there are also english dubbed versions, but I don't really like them. German dub is really good though, plus way better intro, in fact I first watched these episodes on german MTV ages ago. Good memories.)

Spoiler:

Kintaro's faces crack me up every time. Very Happy

Re: Barna's anime corner

What a time to be alive. Recently, I watched an anime about girls who are ships. Then another one about ships who are girls.

First would be KanColle, adaptation of a rather popular online game. As you guessed it has girls who are ships and do shippy stuff ad defeat enemies and shit. Would I recommend it? Umm... this is actually a hard one. If you played the game then sure, but then you probably already watched it. From a more objective standpoint, its nothing special really, there are some good slice of life parts, the references are good, characters are mostly decent, but still, not very memorable. Story is kinda... meh. The WTF factor helps a lot with enjoyment tho, so if you are into that, it could work well. Its not particularly long, so it might worth a bit of time. Unfortunately at the time of writing this, NYAA is down, so no links for my pirate friends. Should it be up, I have the SallySubs version of it, which uses Kantai subs.

The other one should be familiar for WoWS players, Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio. This one is about ships who are girls. See the difference? Its very different actually. The story is pretty good, characters too, the action scenes and the ships are very nice and its overall very interesting. There are a few problems, I missed some more world building, and bit more screentime / development / background for some characters (the other crewmembers mostly), but I must admit I enjoyed it much more than I thought.
The characters are fully done in CG, which bothered me a lot in the beginning, but I got used to them by the ending. I won't say it was better this way than in 2D tho... All in all, I can recommend this one for virtually anyone. No source again, but I have MD's version, which uses Underwater.

Since Oni asked for some stuff, I'll do two more.
Koe de Oshigoto, this is a "first" here, as this is borderline hentai. By borderline, I mean that its almost not hentai. Its about a girl who does voice acting. For adult games. Hilarity follows. Its good for what it is, the story and characters are actually useable, so I'm really sad it only got two episodes. Obviously if ecchi is not your thing then don't bother, but its pretty fun to watch if you can handle it. Just don't do it in public (like I watched To Love Ru Darkness OVAs at university). YARR

Machine-doll. Protag seeking revenge? Check. School / academy setting? Check. All females going for protag? Check. I could go on with the clichés this has, but we wouldn't be getting anywhere eh? So yes, all of that, but somehow it works. The characters are very good here, the story is pretty interesting (more on this later), and the whole atmosphere is great. Also protag is not a pussy here. Plus it has Yaya. And Irori. God damn Irori. Her voice is pure sex (or is it just me?...). So yeah, its definitely not a top tier anime, but its one of those that I remember and hold dear even if I did not rate it that highly. Enjoyment is definitely 10/10. The one downside is that the 12 part anime is quite literally the prologue to the story. Not kidding. And we wont have more for sure. Reasons. Either way, if you want to check it out, you either go for Doki, or ask me to send you my version which uses FFF's scripts, and, I believe, also has better video quality (BD is terrible). FFF's version also has the most WTF awesome ending karaoke ever. ED is so fast you can't really read it anyways, but at least its visually nice.
